Minterra Advances Golden Snow Project
Minterra Resource Corp. (“Minterra" or the “Company") is pleased to provide an update on its Golden Snow Projects located in northeastern Nevada. The Golden Snow Project is comprised of 4,400 acres in the Battle Mountain-Eureka (Cortez) Trend and is 8 miles south of the Archimedes Gold Mine which Barrick recently put back into production.
Golden Snow Project
Golden Snow is a Carlin-type gold target which is 3 miles south of the Eureka South project currently being explored by Staccato Gold Resources, Ltd. Compilation and evaluation of the data acquired from Newmont (Minterra News Release March 1, 2007) has defined at least one target zone approximately 10,000 feet long and over 4,000 feet wide. This target zone became apparent when Newmont Drill Hole ELP-8 was combined with the soil geochemistry and geophysics completed by Minterra during the 2006 field season. ELP-8 intersected increasing pervasive alteration (sanding) and increasingly anomalous trace elements at a depth from 540 to 600 feet (580-600 feet; arsenic 136 ppm and antimony 40.1 ppm) before the hole was abandoned due to caving caused by the extensive alteration.
As shown on the accompanying conceptual cross section these drill data suggest a trace element and alteration halo which is controlled by a major north-trending fault zone. The faulting outlined by the Minterra geophysics and further defined by the follow-up soil geochemistry is the interpreted southern extension of the Ratto Ridge Fault Zone which controls the gold resource of the Eureka South project. The trace element and alteration halo is typical of the extensive zones usually associated with Carlin-type gold deposits. Geologic mapping acquired from Newmont indicates that the favorable host (Cambrian and Ordovician age rocks) may be within 600 to 800 feet of the surface in the target zone.
Drill locations will be defined within this target zone and permitting is expected to be initiated during the latter part of the second quarter of 2007.
About MinterraMinterra is a gold exploration company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is focused on gold exploration in the Great Basin of Nevada and currently has 15 projects in the Cortez and Carlin Trends of Nevada, as well as the Western Nevada Rift.
